    Description

    Location: Chicago, IL

    Reports to: Program Director

    Position Type: Volunteer, Part-time

    Time Commitment: This volunteer position requires an estimated 5–7 hours per week, with flexibility depending on program needs and timelines. The coordinator must be available to attend and lead youth sessions approximately twice a week during the school year. Additional hours may be needed for preparation, communication, coordination, and occasional training.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and support program sessions, including scheduling, preparation, and on-site facilitation.
    • Collaborate with MR staff, educators, and guest speakers to plan a schedule of engaging, age-appropriate, hands-on activities related to manufacturing, STEM, and career exploration.
    • Support and communicate with volunteers, mentors, or guest speakers to ensure they are prepared for sessions.
    • Prepare and organize materials for each session, including activity supplies, handouts, and snacks (when applicable).
    • Attend and supervise youth program sessions (typically twice per week), ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
    • Serve as a liaison between schools or community partners and MR program staff, sharing updates, successes, and challenges in a timely manner.
    • Assist with basic documentation, feedback collection, and continuous improvement of programming.

    • Experience working with youth in educational or community-based settings
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Collaborative, reliable, and youth-centered approach
    • Commitment to equity, workforce access, and youth empowerment

    Preferred (Not Required)

    1. Familiarity with manufacturing, STEM, or workforce development
    2. Bilingual abilities
