Our goal is to empower vulnerable youth to overcome challenges and begin their journey toward restoration and success. At Restoring Our Youth Organization, we believe in equal opportunity and inclusive growth. Our volunteers are expected to dedicate 8 to 10 hours a week. Every role here matters and every team member helps us move closer to a world where every young person feels seen, supported, and capable of success.

    About the Role

The Executive Vice President of Operations is a senior leadership role that partners closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help drive the day-to-day effectiveness and long-term success of Restoring Our Youth Organization. This role plays a critical part in translating strategy into execution, overseeing operational leaders, strengthening internal systems, and supporting a growing, mission-driven organization.

This is a dynamic and collaborative position for a leader who is proactive, solutions-oriented, and comfortable navigating change. The EVP of Operations brings sound judgment, discretion, and strategic thinking to complex operational decisions while working closely with a distributed, remote team. Responsibilities may evolve as organizational needs change, in alignment with the COO or CEO.

    What You’ll Do

    • Partner with the COO to advance R.O.Y.’s mission, values, and strategic priorities
    • Lead, mentor, and support operational leaders and team members, fostering a healthy, inclusive, and high-performing work environment
    • Strengthen operational systems, processes, and workflows to support organizational growth and sustainability
    • Contribute to strategic planning, program innovation, and business development initiatives aligned with organizational goals
    • Monitor organizational performance and outcomes; help identify gaps and recommend corrective actions when needed
    • Support financial stewardship by managing departmental budgets, reviewing financial reports, identifying cost efficiencies, and exploring revenue opportunities
    • Assist in maximizing operational effectiveness while aligning with financial and compliance goals
    • Represent the organization in operational matters with professionalism and discretion, including signing documents or commitments when authorize
    • Stay informed about sector trends, best practices, expansion opportunities, and emerging nonprofit standards

    What You Bring

    • Based in the United States (Chicago/Chicagoland area preferred)
    • Strong alignment with R.O.Y.’s mission, values, vision, and commitment to youth empowerment
    • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership or a related field or 1–2 years of relevant professional experience
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational and research abilities
    • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
    • Experience managing priorities, projects, and people in a fast-paced, evolving environment
    • Comfort working with senior leaders, board members, donors, community partners, and cross-functional teams
    • Working knowledge of nonprofit operations, finance, or governance—or a strong willingness to learn
    • Proficiency with Google Workspace; experience with Microsoft Office tools and openness to learning new systems
    • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with others
    • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
    • Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and follow through on responsibilities with minimal direction
    • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed

    What Sets You Apart

    • A calm, solutions-focused approach to complex or sensitive situations
    • High emotional intelligence and diplomacy when working with diverse stakeholders
    • Proactive, responsive communication style
    • A leadership mindset grounded in service, accountability, and collaboration
