    Description

Organization: Pawsitive Possibilities Rescue, Inc. (PPRI)

    Location: Long Island, New York

    Position Type: Volunteer / Unpaid

    Schedule: Flexible, Part-Time

    Category: Fundraising & Development

    Position Overview

Pawsitive Possibilities Rescue (PPRI), a Long Island-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization, is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Volunteer Grant Writer to help secure funding that supports our lifesaving mission.

As a foster-based animal rescue, PPRI is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. Our programs depend on the generosity of donors, fundraising events, and community partnerships.

We are looking for someone who can transform our mission, programs, and accomplishments into compelling grant proposals that inspire foundations, corporations, and other funding organizations to invest in our work.

Your contributions will help us expand our reach, strengthen our programs, and provide critical resources to animals awaiting their second chance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Research and review potential grant opportunities in collaboration with our Grant Research Volunteer and organizational leadership.
    • Develop compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding requests tailored to prospective funders.
    • Communicate PPRI's mission, programs, accomplishments, and funding needs clearly and persuasively.
    • Collaborate with leadership to gather program information, financial data, organizational documents, and supporting materials.
    • Prepare grant narratives, project descriptions, measurable objectives, and supporting documentation.
    • Ensure grant applications meet funder requirements and submission deadlines.
    • Maintain organized records of submitted proposals, funding requests, and application outcomes.
    • Assist with grant reporting, progress updates, and follow-up communications when needed.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen future proposals and improve funding success.

    Qualifications

    • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
    • Ability to develop clear, persuasive, and well-organized written proposals.
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
    • Comfortable researching funding guidelines and following application requirements.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating with organizational leadership.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, or similar productivity tools.
    • A genuine interest in animal welfare and nonprofit sustainability.
    • Previous grant writing, fundraising, nonprofit development, or professional writing experience is strongly preferred.

    Time Commitment

We offer a flexible volunteer schedule, with assignments based on available grant opportunities and application deadlines.

Volunteers should be comfortable managing individual projects, communicating progress, and meeting agreed-upon deadlines.

    What You'll Gain

    • Hands-on experience in nonprofit grant development and fundraising.
    • Opportunities to build or expand a professional grant-writing portfolio.
    • Experience collaborating with nonprofit leadership on meaningful funding initiatives.
    • The opportunity to help develop sustainable funding sources for a growing animal rescue organization.
    • The satisfaction of knowing your writing can directly contribute to saving animals' lives.

    Why Volunteer With PPRI?

Behind every successful rescue is a network of compassionate people working together to make a difference.

From veterinary care and rehabilitation to foster placement and adoption, every animal we help requires time, dedication, and financial resources.

As a Volunteer Grant Writer, you'll play an important role in building the financial foundation that makes this work possible.

Your ability to tell our story and communicate our needs can help turn funding opportunities into lifesaving programs.

Join Pawsitive Possibilities Rescue and help us write the next chapter for animals in need.
