    Description

    The Organization:

Teetotal Initiative's mission is to help individuals sustain sobriety. We are a Pittsburgh-based 501(c)3 non-profit that offers sober-focused programming that addresses some of the most common causes of relapse - isolation, boredom, and loneliness. Founded in 2023, our goal is to enhance quality of life and support relapse prevention through events, activities, and high-quality programming.

As the first-of-its-kind recreational sober community, Teetotal Initiative inspires a stigma-free and celebratory social atmosphere, promoting meaningful sobriety and community opportunities for all, regardless of their journey to recovery. We welcome all forms of recovery and are not aligned to any specific program. Teetotal Initiative does not provide support groups or professional medical services. Instead, we care for the “rest of life” that happens outside of formal treatment and group support and are a complement to anyone’s recovery toolbox.

    The Board Culture:

As a working board, directors spend an average of eight hours per month serving on committees, volunteering at events and board administration. We lead with earnest effort, respect, and openness. Sobriety is not a requirement to serve on our board as long as you find value in our mission. However, many of our members and staff are in recovery, which leads to a room of thoughtful and introspective leaders who have learned many hard lessons including that we still have a lot to learn. We are working on a stable foundation for our young organization and are looking for someone willing to help us build.

    The Role: Treasurer (Officer)

The Treasurer provides overall financial oversight in partnership with the President, Staff, Bookkeeper, and Finance Committee.

    The Treasurer shall:

    • Oversee the work of the organization's bookkeeper
    • Review bank statements and financial reports monthly
    • Serve as the second signature or approver on funds distributed over designated thresholds
    • Monitor financial activity
    • Keep the board apprised of the corporation's financial state and any inappropriate handling of funds
    • Perform all duties incident to the office of Treasurer.

The Treasurer shall not perform routine bookkeeping activities, except temporarily if necessary with another board member reviewing the books.
