Fiction Editor

A top literary magazine that publishes poetry, short fiction and art by people of color seeks a fiction editor to review and solicit work by emerging writers. Founded in 1992, African Voices is expanding our editorial team and looking for brilliant young voices to join our publishing venture. Must be good with deadlines, editing and identifying stories that resonate with our readers.

You will represent the magazine at literary conferences and articulate a vision for our fiction department. You will be responsible for reviewing and responding to short stories submitted to our magazine by writers hoping to get published. You will manage a system to respond to fiction queries and sending out acceptance or rejection letters to writers who have submitted stories for consideration.

Must be highly organized and have the time to manage your responses to queries. The stories you select will be published in our print edition and website. This is a great position for someone who loves reading and wants to pursue a career in the publishing industry. You should be passionate, professional and committed to preserving the legacy of our award-winning literary magazine.
