Team Lead, Operation Shelter Partners (Volunteer, Remote) — Keep Military Pets Out of Shelters

When a deploying service member cannot find care for their pet in time, a shelter can become the last resort. Operation Shelter Partners prevents that: we build relationships with shelters and rescues in military communities so staff know to connect military families with Dogs on Deployment before a pet is ever surrendered. We are looking for a volunteer leader to own this program.

What you will do:

• Own the mission, projects, and results of the Operation Shelter Partners team
• Grow our national shelter partner network and guide shelters from first interest to official partnership
• Run the team's regular meeting and keep projects moving between calls
• Work directly with our President on priorities, with our Volunteer Coordinator staffing your team

Who thrives in this role: someone from the animal rescue or shelter world (staff, board member, or serious volunteer) who can organize people, follow through consistently, and wants to lead something with visible impact for both animals and military families. Leadership experience of any kind is valuable here.

Dogs on Deployment is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2011 by two military pilots. Through our Hero Pet Boarding Network and financial assistance programs, we make sure no service member ever has to choose between their duty and their pet. You do not need a military background to serve. Our volunteers work in supportive teams with a regular meeting rhythm, real ownership, and a mission you can feel.
