Position Overview
The Google Ads Specialist is responsible for the hands-on execution, management, and optimization of Google Ads campaigns across the organization.
This role focuses on implementing campaigns, managing performance, and continuously improving results through data-driven optimization.
Operating at the intersection of campaign execution, analytics, and performance improvement, this role is critical to driving traffic, engagement, and conversions through paid media.
Key Responsibilities
- Campaign Setup & Execution
- Build and launch Google Ads campaigns, including:
- Search campaigns
- Display campaigns
- YouTube/video campaigns (as applicable)
- Configure:
- Keywords
- Targeting
- Bidding strategies
- Campaign Management
- Monitor and manage active campaigns
- Ensure campaigns are running effectively
- Maintain alignment with campaign goals
- Performance Optimization
- Analyze campaign performance
- Optimize for:
- Click-through rate (CTR)
- Conversions
- Cost efficiency
- Continuously improve results
- Keyword Research & Targeting
- Conduct keyword research
- Identify high-performing opportunities
- Refine targeting strategies
- Ad Copy Development & Testing
- Create and test ad variations
- Optimize messaging for performance
- Align copy with brand and campaign goals
- Conversion Tracking
- Support setup and monitoring of conversion tracking
- Ensure accurate measurement of results
- Optimize campaigns based on conversion data
- Analytics & Reporting
- Track and analyze campaign data
- Provide updates on:
- Performance
- Insights
- Support reporting processes
- Budget Utilization
- Monitor campaign budgets
- Optimize spend for maximum impact
- Support efficient use of ad grants or funds
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with:
- Marketing team (campaign messaging)

- Compliance & Best Practices
- Ensure campaigns follow Google Ads policies
- Maintain account health
- Documentation & Process Support
- Maintain documentation for:

- Test new strategies and approaches
- Stay current with Google Ads updates
- Improve campaign performance over time
Volunteer Commitment Expectations
- Estimated Commitment: 10-15 hours per week
- Flexible schedule
- Participation in marketing and campaign meetings required
- Fully remote
Minimum Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience with:
- Google Ads
- Paid media campaign execution
- Understanding of:
- Campaign structure
- Keywords and targeting
- Basic performance metrics
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with:
- Google Ad Grants (nonprofit preferred)
- Google Analytics
- Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations
- Experience in remote teams
