    Description

The Village Closet is the largest family basic needs program in Western Massachusetts, located in Huntington. We offer an extensive assortment of baby supplies, clothing from newborn to adult, diapers, hygiene products, books, toys, and safety gear such as car seats and safe sleep options. Last year, the center provided $713,000 in basic needs supplies to nearly 10,000 individuals.

Village Closet volunteers sort donations, organize the space, work with families, and gather critical supplies for clients lacking transportation or in crisis.

    • Time commitment: 2-3 hours (or more!) on a weekly, biweekly or monthly basis
    • We welcome student and workplace groups, and often need help with special events throughout Western MA
    • Volunteers will need to be able to stand, climb stairs, and carry about 25 pounds

    Volunteers need to:

    • be organized
    • communicate well with others
    • work independently
    • have access to reliable transportation to get to and from the donation site
