    Description

    Parent Outreach and Referral Builder

Mending Our Mistakes is building a program for parents who are struggling with child support, custody disputes, supervised visitation requirements, unstable housing, unemployment, transportation problems, recovery, or other barriers that make it difficult to stay involved in their children's lives.

We help parents connect with resources, create a plan, and work toward greater stability so they can comply with court requirements, maintain contact with their children, and avoid things like incarceration, repeated court involvement, job loss, or complete family separation.

We need someone who can help us identify and connect with the parents who would benefit from this type of support.

This volunteer would help us figure out where those parents are already showing up, who already works with them, and how we can build relationships that lead to referrals into the program.

That could include reaching out to:

    • Child support offices
    • Courts and attorneys
    • Recovery programs
    • Churches
    • Schools
    • Shelters
    • Food pantries
    • Workforce centers
    • Probation offices
    • Community organizations
    • Facebook groups and local support groups

The goal of this role is to help us create a strong referral network so parents can find help earlier, before they lose their housing, job, driver's license, parenting time, or relationship with their children.

    Instructions:

Applicants should be comfortable representing a new nonprofit program in a professional and respectful way. This role may involve making phone calls, sending emails, attending meetings, speaking with community organizations, or helping distribute information about the program.

The ideal person for this role is someone who is dependable, self-motivated, comfortable talking with people from different backgrounds, and willing to help us build something from the ground up.

This role is not expected to provide counseling, legal advice, or case management. The focus is on helping us identify where parents are already seeking help and building relationships that may lead to future referrals.

Because we are still developing the program, volunteers should be flexible and open to helping shape the role as the organization grows.
