    Description

Turkish Interpreters needed for International STEM Fair

The Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair is coming to Phoenix, Arizona, and we need Turkish interpreters to support 6 Turkish finalists as they compete in the world's largest high-school STEM research competition. Thousands of students from around the globe compete at local, regional, and national science fairs, with the winners earning a bid to the Regeneron ISEF, and volunteer interpreters play a crucial role in ensuring the focus is on the research.

Volunteer interpreters are matched to 1-2 projects during the competition's judging day, which this year takes place on Wednesday, May 13. Interpreters spend the day with their matched finalists, helping to bridge the language barrier during a series of 15-minute interviews with our judges.

    • No professional interpreting experience or knowledge of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) technical jargon is required. You will have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the concepts in your matched student's projects and discuss ways to communicate their work. Most technical jargon is already in English.
    • There are two possible interpreter shifts: 6:30 AM-12 PM, and 12 PM-4 PM. As much as possible, we ask interpreters to be able to commit to the full day to be able to help their finalist through all their interviews. If you are only available for a half-day shift, our preference is for your support in the morning when possible.
    • Breakfast, lunch, parking, and free T-shirts are included for all interpreters.
    • The Regeneron ISEF will take place at the Phoenix Convention Center. Interpreter support is specifically needed on Wednesday, May 13.

How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

    Register through our Volunteer Portal!

    1. Select "Interpreter" as your registration type.
    2. Complete your contact and demographic information.
    3. Add "shifts" to your cart. Our preference is for interpreters to be able to support both shifts (6:30 AM-12 PM and 12 PM-4 PM, but if you are only able to support a half-day, the morning shift is our highest need.
