    Description

    Position Overview:

Dancing for Heroes Committee Members play a vital role in the planning, coordination, and execution of one of SBMH’s signature fundraising events. This role requires proactive, dependable individuals who are committed to supporting pediatric cancer families and ensuring the success of the event from start to finish.

Committee members will not be expected to take on every responsibility listed below. Instead, each member will be assigned specific roles and tasks based on their strengths, interests, and availability.

    Key Responsibilities (Role-Based Assignments):

    • Participant & Partnership Outreach
      • Recruit individuals to participate as dancers
      • Identify and connect with local dance studios interested in partnering with the event
    • Sponsorship & Donations
      • Secure event sponsors and build relationships with community partners
      • Obtain in-kind donations for auctions, raffles, and event needs
    • Event Planning & Coordination
      • Assist in executing tasks according to the event timeline established by the Event Lead (Tina)
      • Collaborate with other committee members to ensure all planning milestones are met
    • Event Preparation
      • Help design, create, and set up event decorations
      • Assist with organizing materials needed for the event (auction items, signage, etc.)
    • Event Operations
      • Support event-day logistics including:
        • Guest check-in and registration
        • Ticket sales
        • Silent auction management and purchases
      • Ensure assigned areas run smoothly during the event
    • Meetings & Rehearsals
      • Attend virtual monthly committee meetings starting 8 months prior to the event
      • Attend virtual bi-weekly committee meetings starting 4 months prior to the event
      • Attend virtual weekly meetings during the 2 months leading up to the event
      • Be present in person for event rehearsal and fully available in person on the day of the event.

    Commitment Expectations:

This role is critical to the success of Dancing for Heroes. While participation is voluntary, committee members are expected to fully commit to the responsibilities they agree to take on. Reliability and follow-through are essential, as last-minute withdrawals can significantly impact the event and the families we serve.

    Ideal Candidate:

    • Organized and reliable
    • Strong communicator and team player
    • Passionate about supporting families affected by pediatric cancer
    • Comfortable with outreach and community engagement
    • Able to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
