Hospice volunteers are the one person on the hospice team that comes to the patient without an agenda, being there only do what the patient and/or family want. Typically, volunteers can read to, watch movies with, write letters for, or help with light housekeeping. But the major, most critical task is in life review and reminiscing. In all our lives, our purpose is defined by the things we're doing and with whom. At end of life, the majority of purpose is found in the patient's memories. Volunteers provide the avenue to help the patients regain their purpose by listening to the stories and bearing witness to the lives well-lived.
Volunteers typically see their people two to four times each month for two to four hours per visit. We will guide you through training and supervision to best support the work you will be doing.
We serve in all areas of Maricopa County, we are a valley-wide hospice.
