    Help make a difference for those living with rare diseases by volunteering with the Rare Genomics Institute (RG). Our non-profit organization is committed to advocating for rare disease patients by connecting them with next-generation sequencing, digital health researchers, cutting-edge medical devices, and knowledge-sharing resources.

    As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Human Resources Generalist to join our volunteer team. This role will report to the Human Resources Lead and will support the development and implementation of key HR processes that help attract, engage, and retain talented volunteers across the organization.

    The HR Generalist will collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to support core HR activities such as volunteer recruitment and onboarding, HR operations, policy development, and employee engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, a passion for people and culture, and an interest in helping build scalable HR practices within a mission-driven nonprofit environment.

    This role will play an important part in ensuring that RG continues to foster a supportive and inclusive volunteer experience while enabling our teams to effectively advance our mission. By helping strengthen the people and processes behind the organization, this position will contribute to the work that ultimately helps patients, families, caregivers, and researchers access critical knowledge and resources about rare diseases. All services provided through RG are free of charge and open to the public.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the development and execution of programs and processes to attract, onboard, develop and retain key talent across the company.
    • Participate in the recruiting function; applicant tracking, candidate sourcing and selection while coordinating with Hiring Managers.
    • Conduct employee orientation/onboarding and offboarding processes.
    • Act as a resource for general inquiries and provide a confidential communication channel for all employees.
    • Partner with the management team on strategic initiatives including job design, talent reviews, retention, and employee communications.
    • Point of contact for employee related issues and concerns
    • Provide coaching and support to management and staff regarding employee relations issues, performance management, policies and procedures
    • Ensures compliance with employment-related laws and company policies
    • Continuously review the process to identify areas for improvement.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • Experience in human resources
    • Excellent time management, analytical, organizational and communication skills
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS systems
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as solid presentation skills
    • MUST be willing and able to dedicate at least 3 hours per week on Rare Genomics work.
