At Optage Meals, we deliver hot and frozen meals to seniors in the Twin Cities to ensure that older adults have access to a friendly face and the nutrition they need. We care deeply about making a difference in our clients' lives, and we seek to provide much more than food—we want all the people we serve to know that they are loved, valued, and not forgotten.
We are currently looking for volunteers to make greeting cards that we can send alongside our meals! This is a great opportunity for children, church groups, college organizations, or book clubs! We send meals to over 3,000 households each month, and we hope to gather enough cards that all our clients receive one. Even one card can make a huge difference in our clients' lives. These cards will be sent to seniors from a variety of backgrounds who may be facing many different life circumstances, so we ask that the cards are generic enough to put a smile on anyone's face.
This is a volunteer opportunity that you can complete on your own time using your own supplies. Feel free to write a kind note inside a premade card or create a fun card from scratch. We encourage you to use your creativity and have fun! These cards will be delivered in person, so there's no need to worry about postage or making sure that the cards are flat. Envelopes are optional. Cards will need to be dropped off at the Optage Meals office during regular business hours, but other arrangements can be made if needed. We will be delivering cards to our clients on a regular basis, so feel free to work on the cards and drop them off at your own pace.
After you submit the interest form, volunteer coordinator Riley McCall will reach out to you by email. If you have any questions or would like to see inspiration pictures, please feel free to reach back out to her!
