    Become an RSVP "Rides for Veterans" Driver (Foxboro, Norfolk, Walpole, Sharon MA)

    Help Local Veterans Get to Critical Medical Appointments

    Norfolk County RSVP is seeking reliable volunteers age 55+ to drive local Veterans to medical appointments and essential trips. Many Veterans no longer drive or cannot afford costly transportation options, making this volunteer service critical to their health and independence.

    Volunteers use their own vehicle, with supplemental liability insurance provided through RSVP and a mileage reimbursement of $0.40 per mile.

    What You’ll Do

    As a Veteran Medical Ride Volunteer Driver, you will:

    • Transport Veterans to and from medical appointments and essential errands
    • Provide safe, courteous, and supportive service
    • Accept or decline ride requests according to your availability
    • Help ensure Veterans can attend vital health appointments without barriers

    Ride Details

    • Riders must be ambulatory or bring a caregiver who can assist them
    • Trips may be local within Norfolk County or to VA facilities including:
      • Jamaica Plain VA Medical Center
      • West Roxbury VA Medical Center
      • Brockton VA Medical Center
    • Drivers typically complete two rides per month
    • Volunteers can opt in or out of each individual trip request

    Service Area — Drivers Needed In:

    • Foxboro
    • Wrentham
    • Norfolk
    • Walpole
    • Sharon
    • And surrounding Norfolk County communities

    Requirements

    To volunteer, you must:

    • Be age 55 or older
    • Hold a valid Massachusetts driver’s license
    • Have a reliable car
    • Complete a background check
    • Be comfortable driving locally and to Boston‑area VA hospitals

    Program Information

    Norfolk County RSVP is a community service program for volunteers age 55+, funded by the Norfolk County Commissioners and AmeriCorps Seniors. We partner with over 30 nonprofit, municipal, and healthcare organizations to address community needs across the county.
