    Description

Are you the person who can turn a "maybe" into a "heck yes!"? Do you love getting people fired up for a good cause? We're looking for enthusiastic go-getters to join our Planning Committee for

Heartland Animal Shelter’s 2026 WALK OF LOVE Event!

    At Potawatomi Woods in Northbrook, Illinois on June 13, 2026, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

This event is more than just a stroll—it is a lifeline for the dogs and cats in our care. To make this year our most successful yet, we are looking for dedicated, animal-loving leaders to join our Planning Committee. As a committee member, you won’t just be volunteering; you’ll be the architect behind the scenes, driving the fundraising and community engagement that makes our mission possible. Join one of our teams!

    Fundraising Mentors Team

Goal: To empower individual walkers and teams to meet and exceed their personal fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities: Reach out to a small assigned group of registered fundraising walkers to provide encouragement, fundraising templates and technical support for their fundraising pages. Share creative ideas for "peer-to-peer" fundraising (e.g., social media challenges, office bake sales). Monitor progress and celebrate milestones to keep participants engaged and motivated.

    Recruitment Team

Goal: To grow the event’s reach by increasing the number of registered participants and teams.

Key Responsibilities: Identify and outreach to local businesses and organizations to host onsite walker recruitment events or inclusion in their digital marketing. Table at recruitment events to sign up new participants.

    Sponsorship Team

Goal: To secure corporate partnerships and in-kind donations to offset event costs and increase revenue.

Key Responsibilities: Identify and pitch local businesses whose values align with animal welfare. Secure in-kind donations for the event (as needed), such as decor, activities, water, snacks, etc. Serve a sponsor point person on Walk Day. Maintain professional relationships with sponsors to ensure long-term support for Heartland.

    Common Requirements for All Roles:

    • A passion for animal welfare and the mission of Heartland Animal Shelter.
    • Comfortable with outbound communication (email, phone, or in-person).
    • Ability to attend monthly committee planning meetings (remote or in-person).
    • Strong organizational skills and a "team player" attitude.

Virtual Committee Meetings will be held the 4th Wednesday of every month from Noon-1pm.
