140Arts Collaborative is searching for a dedicated and resourceful Fundraising Specialist and Grant Writer to volunteer on our executive board as the "Fundraising Chair" to play a foundational role in building a local art and culture collaborative group from the ground up.
140Arts Collaborative is a newly formed 501(c)(3) non profit organization that is dedicated to fostering diverse and inclusive arts programming that strengthens community bonds. Our immediate goal is to make art and culture accessible to everyone, enrich lives, celebrate shared experiences, and build a more vibrant, interconnected community in Upton, Massachusetts and the surrounding towns.
A longterm speculative goal includes partnering with the Town of Upton Town to save and rehabilitate the local historic Holy Angels Church in the center of the town, and to transform it into a permanent cultural center. This hub will feature performance spaces, galleries, and a makerspace, allowing neighbors to learn, create, and share art and culture together. A project like this would not be able to exist without significant fundraising and procurement of grants.
The Fundraising Chair requires someone who is community oriented, takes initiative, and has a strong desire to support local art and culture. Our Board Members are volunteers who play active roles in shaping the collaborative's direction by providing governance for the growing non profit, guidance to volunteers, and a hands on approach with events as appropriate.
Specific responsibilities will include research and execution of grant writing, identify and approach donors large and small, host fundraising events, oversee volunteers who perform fundraising work, and find creative ways to help the non profit sustainably fund itself while adhering to its mission of being accessible to all.
We are looking for commitment to the community, but we understand that as volunteers we need to respect each other's time and energy as well as our own. Our executive board meetings are conducted remotely every other Wednesday evening. The right candidate for this position will be able to self direct and identify weekly priorities outside of these meetings in order to create their own schedule and operate effectively within those boundaries. While the internal affairs are often remote, we encourage you to join us at our in-person events and socialize with artists, patrons, and other board members as available.
We hope you will apply and join our team as Fundraising Chair!
Please include a resume and brief cover letter.
