Vilda offer a fully outdoor, hands-on nature education program designed to foster curiosity, confidence, and connection to the natural world. Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Volunteer Program Assistant to help co-lead our weekly outdoor nature education program. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in environmental education, outdoor learning, child development, or experiential teaching.
Volunteers will work closely with the Lead Instructor and gain real-world experience in nature-based curriculum, group facilitation, and student engagement—all while spending meaningful time outdoors.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Instructor in facilitating weekly outdoor lessons and activities
- Support student engagement, participation, and positive group dynamics
- Help with set-up, transitions, and clean-up of activities
- Provide guidance and encouragement to students during games, exploration, and projects
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
- Model curiosity, care for nature, and appropriate outdoor behavior
Learning Opportunities

- Nature connection and outdoor education curriculum

- Group management and facilitation in outdoor settings

Qualifications
- Enjoy working with children and being outdoors in all weather conditions
- Reliable and able to commit to weekly Fridays
- Positive, patient, and flexible attitude
- Interest in nature, environmental education, or outdoor learning (no prior experience required)
- Background check may be required
