    Description

    About Us

The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Youth Symphony Orchestra (OSJVS) is a vibrant non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing the next generation of classical musicians. Our mission is to teach young artists to play diverse chamber and orchestral music—from the Baroque period to current Quebec composers—while helping them develop advanced musical skills, gain ensemble experience, and share their passion with the Vaudreuil-Soulanges community.

By supporting the OSJVS, you directly contribute to providing quality musical education and exceptional community performances.

    The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Volunteer Grant Writer to focus on drafting and submitting grant applications based on opportunities identified by the OSJVS team. This is a critical role that directly impacts our ability to secure funding and expand our programs.

This position is ideal for a writer or professional seeking experience in non-profit development and arts administration, with an emphasis on proposal writing and submission.

    Key Responsibilities

The Grant Writer will work remotely and independently, reporting directly to the Board of Directors or a designated Board Member. Responsibilities include:

    • Writing & Preparation: Draft compelling, clear, and persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and required supporting documents, using the OSJVS mission and provided funder guidelines.
    • Narrative Development: Work with the OSJVS team to articulate program needs, goals, and impact effectively for each application.
    • Reporting Support: Upon funding approval, assist in compiling interim and final reports as required by the funder.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Proven experience in grant writing, professional proposal writing, or advanced academic writing is highly preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and/or French (bilingualism is a strong asset).
    • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail to ensure adherence to strict funder guidelines.
    • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet established deadlines.
    • A passion for classical music, youth development, and community arts.

    Why Volunteer with OSJVS?

    • Impact: Directly contribute to the cultural enrichment and musical education of youth in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.
    • Experience: Gain valuable professional experience focused on high-level proposal development and submission.
    • Network: Connect with a dedicated board, artistic director, and a passionate community of musicians and arts lovers.
    • Flexibility: This is a remote, flexible position that can be adapted to your schedule.
