Description
The Marine Exploration Center is a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the public's understanding of the value and fragility of the local and global marine environment through research, education and personal experiences.
As a volunteer you will be assisting our aquarist staff with:
- Daily and weekly food preparation for our marine animals on site
- Feeding our marine animals, including brown-banded bamboo sharks, a southern stingray, saltwater eels, etc.
- Cleaning and maintaining aquarium systems
- Working education programs including an on-site touch tank
- Working education programs at potential off-site events with our mobile aquarium on wheels
- Salting a salt tower
- Other varying aquarist tasks
Qualifications:
- Motivated
- Ability to transport oneself to and from volunteer location
