    Description

Named after our founder’s son Felix, who has cerebral palsy, the Felix Award celebrates individuals and organizations who reshape public perceptions of disability, shifting narratives away from stigma toward belonging, inclusion, and joy. This year, the Felix Award will celebrate four incredible disability organizations—Epic Players, Intertwine Arts, LAND Studio & Gallery, and Tech Unlimited—and honor community leaders who have played an active role in reshaping accessibility and advocacy in New York City.

An undertaking like this is not possible without the support of a dedicated group of volunteers. Are you excited by the chance to center and celebrate the experiences of neurodiverse children? Are you ready to make a difference and have a great time while doing it? Whether you’re a student, professional, or just someone passionate about inclusion and fun, if the answer to any of the questions above is an enthusiastic yes, we’d love to have you on our volunteer team for this Evening event on Thursday, May 29th.

We are looking for support in the following areas:

    • Set-up: The set-up team will handle things like setting up tables and chairs, arranging banners and posters, addressing last minute needs from staff or vendors
    • Ushering: Ushers will be in charge of directing traffic flow throughout the evening. This includes the reception areas, the auction area, as well as movement of guests from these spaces to the theater.
    • Auction team: the auction team will support EKC staff in the logistics and management of the auction.
    • Hospitality (over 21): hospitality team duties include serving and circulating food and drinks to attendees. Some volunteers will staff the VIP area and others will handle the other guests.
    • Hospitality (under 21): this is the same as over 21, except these team members will not be handling any alcoholic beverages.
    • Accessibility team: accessibility team members will be on-site and ready to assist the accessibility needs of any guests and honorees.
