Volunteer Development Officer (Project Juani)

Who We Are:

Juani is a fiscally sponsored project of the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Empowerment WORKS and our mission is to improve the lives of women and girls in rural Kenya through healthcare, education, and empowerment. Our licensed Level II health care clinic in Sega, Kenya specializes in women's health care, and our current initiatives focus on expanding access to cervical and breast cancer screening, providing quality obstetric care, improving health literacy, and supporting survivors of gender-based violence. We're looking for a motivated, self-starter to oversee our fundraising initiatives so that we can continue to serve the women and girls in Siaya County.

Position Summary:

The Development Officer will plan and implement a fundraising program to meet our project's immediate and future needs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Sets annual monetary goals and budgets according to immediate and future organizational needs.
• Plans and implements effective fundraising events that clearly communicate the mission and priorities of the organization.
• Maintains a list of potential financial donors including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
• Produces informative literature for distribution to potential and past donors.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a similar field preferred.
• Two years of fundraising and development experience with a nonprofit preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

This is a volunteer position.
