About Less Leg More Heart:
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Less Leg More Heart provides support, supplies and services to amputees to help them wherever they are in their life. As a running blade director, I am dedicated to empowering amputees by helping them obtain running blades so they can return to sport, fitness, and active lifestyles. My goal is to remove financial and logistical barriers that prevent amputees from accessing adaptive athletic prosthetics.
Position Summary
The Communications & Outreach Coordinator supports amputees seeking running blades by soliciting blade donations through various means of communication with local businesses and organizations and assisting with grant applications. This volunteer plays a key role in connecting recipients with community resources, donors, and partner organizations.
This is a flexible, remote volunteer opportunity ideal for someone who is tech-savvy, organized, and passionate about adaptive athletics and disability advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Applicant Communication & Support
- Proactively contact external organizations or businesses for donations.
- Maintain clear, compassionate, and professional communication via email, phone, virtual meetings, or letters.
- Maintain clear and frequent communication and collaborate with the running blade Director
- Recommend and implement technology solutions to improve communication and efficiency
- Community Fundraising Support
- Assist recipients in identifying local fundraising opportunities
- Draft outreach emails, letters, and social media messaging for donation campaigns
- Coordinate with local businesses, civic groups, and athletic organizations
- Grant Research & Applications
- Research external grant opportunities that support adaptive sports or medical prosthetics
- Assist in drafting grant applications with support from the running blade Director
- Maintain grant tracking spreadsheets and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable with email platforms, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and online research
- Experience with grant writing or nonprofit fundraising (preferred but not required)
- Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
- Passion for adaptive sports, disability advocacy, or community outreach
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
Time Commitment
- Flexible schedule
- Minimum 3 hours per week
- Remote position (occasional virtual meetings required)
