    Hope Summer Program is an 8 week program Monday to Thursday. Volunteers can commit to 8:30am-1:00pm, 12:30pm-3:00pm, or 8:30am-3:00pm.

    Description

    Summer School Volunteer

    Responsibilities:

    • Support staff and teachers in the classroom and on campus (e.g. collecting materials, setting up equipment).
    • Provide administrative assistance (e.g. photocopying, typing and organizing).
    • Assist Activity Coordinator with preparing for Thursday school activities
    • Encourage students to participate in school activities
    • Assist with Snacks Bar during breaks
    • Provide additional assistance to students who have special needs or need extra attention
    • Supervise students between classes, during recreation periods and field trips as needed.
    • Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus.
    • Attend weekly Faculty Meetings, school activities and events.
    • Organize and participate in Opening Day, Open House and Graduation.
    • Exercise open and respectful communication and collaboration with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff and volunteers.
    • Create an environment that promotes Hope Summer School’s emphasis on academics, character building, art and cultural appreciation, and overall wellness.

    Qualifications:

    • At least 16 years old.
    • Reliable transportation and/or car insurance.
    • Proficient in the use of standard office, classroom, technology and equipment.
    • Professional conduct in behavior and outward appearance.
    • An appreciation for Vietnamese culture.
    • Professional experience working with young children is strongly preferred
    • Experience supporting positive relationships with children and adults in a learning environment
    • Basic writing, math and science skills are needed to assist in both teaching students and answering their questions
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Commitment to the success of all students by providing a rigorous, supportive, and motivating academic experience.
