    Description

    MISSION

Union Station Homeless Services is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, who is committed to helping individuals and families rebuild their lives and discover permanent solutions to ending homelessness.

    IMPACT

Our organization relies heavily on the support of volunteer groups to provide daily home-cooked meals to our shelter residents and community members in need. Gather your friends, family, corporation, and/or civic group and provide a meal for our Adult Center.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESVOLUNTEER

Plan a menu of your choice (i.e. roasted chicken, mac and cheese, salad, cookies, and drinks)

Purchase the ingredients needed to prepare the food

Cook the meal - prepare the meals in our kitchens -- or purchase food from a restaurant and drop it off or have it delivered

Serve the meal to our residents (optional-- if you choose not to serve in person, our staff is happy to serve the meal on your behalf)

    REQUIREMENTS

Volunteers must complete our online registration form, acknowledge our USHS liability waiver, and complete our online orientation. To register, visit us at ushs.org/volunteer.

Please note that there is an age requirement for volunteering in the kitchen. Children under the age of 13 are not allowed in the kitchen at any time. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old with a chaperone, and 16 to volunteer without.

Dress code: We ask that you please wear closed-toed shoes and long pants for your safety and protection.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Unable to cook or plan a meal, but still interested in helping? In lieu of providing a meal, our kitchen staff would be grateful for a Smart&Final gift card to assist with costs.
