Elk Grove Lunar New Year Tết 2027 — Volunteer Directors

Elk Grove Lunar New Year Tết returns to Elk Grove Park — February 13–14, 2027. Free admission: a family-centered festival weekend with carnival, kids programming, Soul Torrent, and local live music. Hosted by cPALSs (lead) with VACOS, NVCC, and coalition partners.

We're seeking volunteer Directors / DRIs (one owner per Program gift or outreach lane) and Site & Ops Supercommittee members. Directors recommend and decide budget for their lane, including whether to contract out work. You are not assumed to build sets, hang decor, or personally perform the craft — own the outcome and hire or place pros when needed.

Vendor Operations — Eventeny/Zeffy admin, caps, waitlist, TFF

Volunteers — recruitment, shifts, waivers, appreciation

Partnerships & Grants — CCSD, City, SMUD, institutional relationships

ALREADY COVERED: Festival chair only (Bao Thien Ngo · cPALSs) — partnership-level decision authority. Co-chair TBD.

PHASE 2 (SOFT / SPONSOR-GATED — LOWER URGENCY): Tết Relay Cup · Honor our Elders · Spread the Word · Cây Nêu — apply if you want to hold the vision until funded.

GOOD FIT IF YOU

Can commit planning time now through February 2027 and event weekend

Communicate clearly and like bounded ownership with festival-chair backup

Are comfortable owning budget decisions and contracting (not only hands-on volunteer labor)

Have event or committee experience (helpful, not required)

Volunteer leadership roles — unpaid. One DRI name per gift/lane when placed; co-leads welcome as members. Contracting craft labor is a normal Director decision.
