    Description

Creating lessons on basic science concepts

Do you have a passion for creating educational content and want to help underserved children gain access to basic science education? If so, Oppia is looking for volunteers to join our team in developing high-quality science lessons for our online learning platform.

To apply, please fill in this form: https://forms.gle/yBB6UioSvtJiPvwk7

    Who we are

The Oppia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to provide high-quality education to everyone, everywhere. Learn more about our work on our website (www.oppia.org)

What Our Science Lesson Team Does

As a member of our Science Lesson Team, you will:

    • Draft science curricula for young learners.
    • Write lessons using Oppia tools. You will teach a science topic, so that learners are introduced to key science concepts in a manner easy to understand, and within a real-world setting.
    • Devise questions that gradually increase in difficulty, and that help learners test their skills and understanding.
    • Implement interactive lessons on the Oppia platform, and improve those lessons based on feedback from learners.

    How we Operate

Our focus is on effectiveness, and we use rigorous testing and research to create educational materials tailored to the needs of underserved learners. Our meetings are held online, making it easy to collaborate with our passionate volunteers from around the world.

    What You Will Gain

    • You will gain expertise in translating complex science concepts into effective student-centered instruction.
    • You'll sharpen your craft through the discipline of children's content, where there's no jargon to hide behind — just clear, precise language that makes you better across all your work.
    • You'll do work that visibly matters, contributing standard learning content to children who face inequality in accessing quality education around the world.
    • Gain expertise working with an international community of volunteers who are passionate about bridging the education gap across the world.
    • You'll grow as a professional, building curriculum development, project management and collaboration skills that make you more valuable to every client you work with.
    • Get a certificate of recognition and LinkedIn recommendation for your contributions.

If you’re excited about making education more accessible and inclusive, we encourage you to apply here: https://forms.gle/yBB6UioSvtJiPvwk7
