    Description

    Become a FRIEND to Someone Working Out of Homelessness - REMOTE!

    Shifts: 4 – 8 hours per month including occasional Sundays

    Reports To: Director of Programs

    Location: REMOTE!

    Position Objective: FRIEND Mentor Volunteers will assist the Jobs & Housing Program members with guidance, experience, and expertise in a variety of areas, specifically in key focus areas that help members achieve program goals and personal milestones. Mentors will build relationships with program members in one of the focus areas - employment fundamentals, financial literacy, housing support, and goal tracking - and continue their collaboration for the duration of their program with continued support beyond the program. While experience and expertise can lie outside of these areas, it is important for the mentor to remain diligent in communication with their mentee as well as the staff to create a whole care plan.

    Position Description: Working with the Jobs & Housing team, a FRIEND with experience in the key areas can expect to build support with some of the following:

    Employment Fundamentals:

    • Building &/or redesigning resumes
    • Interview practice & preparation
    • Steps for successful job searching & applying for jobs

    Financial Literacy:

    • Basic budgeting fundamentals
    • Credit understanding and management
    • Spending and savings methods and tools

    Housing Support:

    • Housing search and guidance
    • Practical housing goals
    • Understanding the leasing process/what to expect moving in

    In addition to the above mentioned, a FRIEND can also be involved in the following areas:

    • Engage and build relationships with multiple GO Team and Crew Members
    • Assist the team and members in goal setting and breakdowns
    • Curriculum process and tracking achievements
    • Offering general advice and check ins to make sure they are feeling good about the stage of the program

    Position Requirements:

    • 26+ years of age
    • Ability to encourage, motivate, and build connection that will have positive and resonating impact
    • Lived experience in key life notes
    • Passion for helping those experiencing homelessness to a path to sustainable housing, growing professional opportunities, and mindful choices
    • REMOTE ONLY: Must have credentials in one of the key focus areas such as a college degree or certification.
