    The Fédération Internationale de la Jeunesse, in English the International Youth Federation (IYF), is an international non-profit youth organisation network governed by the present Statutes and the Swiss Civil Code. It is politically neutral and non-denominational, aiming to empower youth worldwide.

    The IYF is a global youth network, an organisation advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience, and resources to empower young people across the world. IYF works in over 50 countries and territories, helping to achieve youth empowerment and improve the status of youth.

    The Assistant Regional Director covers a broad range of issues ranging from programme formulation to delivery, oversight of IYF operations, leading strategic planning for IYF operations, setting of management targets, and monitoring support and services provided by IYF to projects and programmes in the member countries in the region. S/he assists the Regional Director in leading the regional team in strategic planning and identifies new programme areas while ensuring consistency with the region’s priorities and creative responses to emerging challenges and opportunities.

    To voluntarily represent, positively promote, and uphold the mission of “Empowering youth for a better world” in various programs and opportunities throughout the IYF interventions across member countries.

    Responsibilities

    (A) Provide management and programme Support to the IYF Regional Administration:

    • Identification of strategic programme areas of cooperation through analysis of the political, social and economic situation in the region;
    • Support the implementation of the Regional Plan in collaboration with the regional team and other units/departments;
    • Analysis and presentation of IYF policies and their implementation in the region;
    • Design and formulation of the regional programme within the area of responsibility, translating IYF priorities into regional/local interventions.
    • Coordination of programme implementation with the partner agencies;
    • Ensures effective management of the regional programme and supervision of the programme team; and
    • Strategic oversight of planning, budgeting, implementing and monitoring of the regional programme, tracking use of financial resources in accordance with IYF rules and regulations.

    (B) Establishes and maintains strategic partnerships and supports the resource mobilization in cooperation with the HQ teams:

    • Implementation of the regional partnerships and resources mobilization strategies to achieve programme outcomes;
    • Creation and coordination of partnerships with the stakeholders, IFI’s, government institutions, bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors, private sector, civil society etc.;
    • Determination of programmatic areas of cooperation, based on strategic goals of IYF, regional needs and donors’ priorities;
    • Analysis and research of information on donors, preparation of substantive briefs on possible areas of cooperation, identification of opportunities for cost-sharing; and
    • Establishment of advocacy networks at national level and linked to international networks. Relevant, high-impact advocacy campaigns are implemented with key partners.

    Language

    Advanced English skills are required for this role, as we work in English.

    Experience

    Experience within an NGO, non-profit, INGO (such as the United Nations), government, charity, international development, or youth empowerment organisation is essential for this role.
