    Description

    Executive Director

    Greetings from OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION.

My name is Jeff Hall, Editor & CEO at OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION, or ONC for short.

I’m a newspaper guy going way back. I’m a former VP at the Los Angeles Times and I worked at the White House for a year as something called a White House Fellow. I’m a Stanford grad and a Harvard MBA.

I’ve always operated at the intersection of journalism, public policy and entrepreneurship.

At OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION, we host nonpartisan, civil conversations about politics. Our goal is to reduce toxic partisanship in America and get America talking again. Our slogan: “Less hate, more debate.”

People are tired of all the anger. If we can change the direction of political conversations in America, that will be something our grandchildren will be proud to brag about. We're doing this for America.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We are mostly run by students – America’s future leaders.

We have student writers, coders, video producers, social media types, fundraisers and more. We are completely virtual and nobody’s getting paid.

Gen Z is inheriting a challenging world and we want to provide this up-and-coming generation with the tools Gen Z will need to cope – and thrive, even.

While our interns are great, they can only do so much. They have school, other jobs and other commitments that cause them to only be able to provide maybe 5 hours a week.

At the end of every semester, around 20 of our 65 interns leave. It takes a while to get the replacement interns up to speed.

I am 74 and could use some help. It is pretty much me and my small army of interns. My students need more adult supervision.

Today’s students are frightened. Too many have given up hope. They need an ongoing pep talk, followed by experiences that indicate they really can make a difference.

In order to take ONC to the next level, it’s time to get more “adults” into the mix. We also need to raise money and pay people, including our interns. It’s time to institutionalize what we’re doing and engage in marketing that will put ONC on the map.

We are willing to pay a 10% success fee to those who raise money for us. Once we raise money, we want to add our Executive Director (and others) to the payroll.

This is a volunteer role, to start. I think the role requires a minimum of 10-20 hours a week.

Get in touch and I'll send you a pitch deck. We have a lot of exciting projects in the works; I need help turning them all into reality. I look forward to hearing from you.
