    About IRC Africa Inc.

IRC Africa Inc. is a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit working in Ambovombe, southern Madagascar, in partnership with TERATANY, a women-led local nonprofit.

Together, we established and operate Ny Trano Manga (The Blue House), Madagascar’s first women’s shelter. The shelter provides survivors of violence and their children with safe accommodation, food, medical care, emotional support, and guidance. Since opening in January 2025, it has supported approximately 80 women and more than 100 children.

We are now moving into the next stage of our work by developing an Employment and Entrepreneurship Center for mothers and a Technology Campus for young women who are high school graduates. Our goal is not only to protect women in times of crisis, but also to create pathways toward economic independence and a safer future.

    About the Role

We are seeking an entrepreneurial, values-driven leader to develop and lead IRC Africa’s fundraising and partnership efforts in the United States. This is an opportunity to build a vital function nearly from the ground up and create relationships that can help transform the futures of women and children in southern Madagascar.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement a U.S. fundraising strategy
    • Identify and research individual donors, foundations, companies, and potential partners
    • Initiate and cultivate relationships that can lead to donations and long-term partnerships
    • Prepare outreach materials, presentations, proposals, and donor updates
    • Build relationships with corporate social responsibility leaders, workplace giving programs, and potential employee ambassadors
    • Establish an organized system for tracking outreach, relationships, and opportunities
    • Work directly with IRC Africa’s Founder and CEO, Eldad Garfunkel, using authentic content and regular updates from the field

    The Ideal Candidate

    • Resides in the United States, preferably in the New York City or Tri-State area
    • Has experience in fundraising, business development, partnerships, corporate social responsibility, marketing, or community building
    • Has native-level English or excellent professional fluency
    • Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Is independent, proactive, reliable, and able to turn ideas into action
    • Is committed to protecting women and advancing gender equality, education, and economic independence
    • Has connections to foundations, companies, or donor networks in the United States, which would be a significant advantage

    What We Offer

    • A meaningful leadership role with real responsibility and direct impact
    • Full flexibility and remote work
    • Direct collaboration with the organization’s leadership and our local partner in Madagascar
    • The opportunity to build a meaningful network of donors, companies, and supporters around proven work
    • The chance to play a central role in the growth of a young organization with a long-term vision

    Important Information

This is initially an unpaid volunteer position. If the organization succeeds in expanding its funding base and there is a strong professional fit, we intend to explore a future transition to a paid leadership role. This possibility depends on securing sufficient funding and does not constitute a guarantee of employment.

    How to Apply

Please submit a resume or a link to your LinkedIn profile, together with a brief note explaining why this opportunity interests you and what relevant experience you would bring.

One meaningful connection can help open the door to a safer and more independent future for women in southern Madagascar.
