    Share Your Skills: Volunteer to Teach a Class at Our Homeless Shelter!

    Do you have a skill or passion you'd love to share? We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to teach engaging and empowering classes to the residents of our homeless shelter right here in Fredericksburg!

    Many of our residents - men, women, and children - are eager to learn new skills, expand their knowledge, and explore creative outlets. Your unique talents can make a profound difference, offering not just practical skills, but also a sense of purpose and connection.

    What kind of classes are we looking for?

    Almost anything! If you have a skill you can teach, we'd love to hear about it. Here are just a few ideas to get your mind spinning:

    • Life Skills: Budgeting, healthy eating, resume writing, job interview tips, computer basics, public speaking.
    • Creative Arts: Painting, drawing, creative writing, music, knitting, crafting.
    • Health & Wellness: Gentle yoga, meditation, stress management, basic nutrition.
    • Education: GED prep, reading circles, basic math, current events discussions.
    • Hobbies: Chess club, gardening basics, storytelling.

    What's involved?

    • Commitment: We're looking for volunteers who can commit to a class series (e.g., weekly for 4-6 weeks) to provide consistency for our residents.
    • Preparation: You'll design your own class curriculum and activities. We can help with material suggestions and resources where possible.
    • Impact: You'll directly contribute to the personal growth and empowerment of individuals and families working towards a brighter future.
