    Description

Checkmates, a program of AgeWell Pittsburgh, is a peer-led telephone reassurance program for older adults. Checkmates offers a connection between senior volunteers and older adults in our community who may be homebound, isolated and lonely.

Confidential phone calls are made once a week by senior adult volunteers at the Jewish Community Center. A call from a peer who listens and cares is comforting and reassuring.

Checkmates volunteers are trained so that they feel confident and prepared to make phone calls. Call times are flexible and can be arranged to suit your schedule.

Donating your time to Checkmates is a rewarding way to make a difference in a senior adult's life.
