Description
Role Overview: Lead board efforts to diversify and grow MHN's funding base through donor cultivation, grant partnerships, and community engagement. Bring fundraising expertise and donor connections to ensure organizational sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Donor Development
Identify and cultivate individual major donors ($5K+)
Make personal introductions to potential donors and foundation contacts
Build relationships with corporate giving programs
Participate in donor meetings and solicitations with ED
Host small cultivation events (friendraisers, donor dinners)
Lead by example with a personally meaningful annual gift
Grant & Foundation Relations
Connect MHN to foundation and corporate giving opportunities
Support grant writing efforts with connections, letters of support, and funder introductions
Review grant proposals for fundability and alignment
Attend funder meetings when appropriate
Help develop relationships with the program officer
Fundraising Events & Campaigns
Help plan and execute annual fundraising gala (In Honor of Her)
Lead or support peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns
Sell tables/tickets and personally invite guests to events
Serve as host and mission storyteller at events
Support post-event donor appreciation and follow-up
Board Fundraising Leadership
Help set and monitor board fundraising goals
Motivate other board members to participate in fundraising
Chair Development Committee as board grows
Share best practices and training with board
Report on fundraising progress at board meetings
Qualifications:
Demonstrated fundraising success or extensive donor network in Louisiana
Grant writing or grant review experience helpful
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Personal connections in the Baton Rouge/Louisiana philanthropic community
Willingness to make personal financial contribution commensurate with capacity
Comfort making asks or participating in solicitations
Understanding of nonprofit fundraising best practices
Commitment to maternal health equity
