    Volunteer Technical Mentor – Philly CoderDojo (Remote)

    Location: Remote (Online via Zoom)

    Time Commitment: Flexible: 3 or 6+ hours/month based on your availability.

    Age Requirement: 18+

    Help empower the next generation of coders!

    Philly CoderDojo is a free, volunteer-led online coding club for youth ages 7–17. We’re looking for passionate professionals in technology-enabled careers to serve as volunteer technical mentors and inspire young learners to explore the world of code.

    💻 What You’ll Do:

    • Support youth in learning coding, app development, game design, and more
    • Share your career journey and help students connect coding to real-world applications
    • Encourage creativity, collaboration, and curiosity
    • Join bi-monthly Saturday sessions (11 AM–12 PM) during the school year and monthly summer sessions
    • Participate remotely via Zoom from anywhere

    🧑‍💼 Who We’re Looking For:

    • Professionals in tech-related fields (software development, data science, cybersecurity, UX/UI, IT, etc.)
    • Passionate about equity, education, and mentoring youth
    • No teaching experience required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to support learners
    • Background checks required for volunteers working directly with youth (details provided during onboarding)

    Additional Requirements

    To ensure a safe and supportive environment for our youth, all volunteers must:

    • Complete required federal, state, and local clearances to work with minors
    • Complete online safeguarding training, including:
      • CoderDojo Ethos & Behavior: Implementation and Practice
      • Social Media & Communication Guidelines for Volunteers

    These steps are essential to maintaining the integrity and safety of our program. We’re here to support you through the process!

    Not a coder? No problem! We also welcome volunteers for non-technical roles supporting Philly CoderDojo’s development, outreach, and administration.

    Have a child who loves tech? Parents are welcome to enroll their children in our free coding sessions—no volunteer commitment required. But if you’re interested in giving back while your child learns, we’d love to have you join our mentor team too!
