    Description

Engagement Volunteers are community members who participate meaningfully alongside the adults we serve at Limitless Disability Services — an adult day program supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), including Autism, Down Syndrome, and related diagnoses.

This is a relationship-centered volunteer role. Engagement Volunteers participate in structured and informal activities alongside program participants, offering companionship, encouragement, and genuine connection during the program day.

    What You'll Do

As an Engagement Volunteer, you will:

    • Participate alongside program participants in daily activities such as recreational programming, fitness, creative arts, life skills, and community-building events
    • Offer individualized support and engagement based on each participant's communication style, interests, and goals
    • Model inclusive, respectful interaction that reflects the dignity and capability of each individual you serve
    • Assist program staff as needed during activity facilitation
    • Help create a welcoming, positive environment where participants feel seen, valued, and connected

    What to Expect

Our participants communicate and move through the world in beautifully diverse ways — using speech-generating devices, sign language, or nonverbal communication; moving with the support of wheelchairs or other mobility aids; expressing joy and enthusiasm in ways that are authentically their own. You will be welcomed into a program environment built around person-centered values, genuine relationships, and the belief that every adult deserves a full, engaged life in their community.

Volunteers consistently describe their time at Limitless as one of the most personally meaningful experiences they've had — not because they came to give, but because of what they received in return.

    Why This Role Matters

Adults with IDD are often underrepresented in community life. Engagement Volunteers help bridge that gap — not by changing what our participants can do, but by showing up, being present, and building authentic relationships. Your presence sends a message that belonging matters and that community is stronger when it includes everyone.

Skills and Qualities We're Looking For

    • Patience, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm for working with adults with disabilities
    • Willingness to learn alternative communication methods and support strategies (training provided)
    • Reliability and respect for the routine and structure that many of our participants depend on
    • Commitment to person-first, dignity-centered interaction
