    Description

    Community Outreach Chief

We Are NEXT is looking for passionate volunteers with robust experience in broad community‑building, coalition‑building, and collaboration across multiple organizations—internally and externally—to fulfill the role of Community Outreach Chief. This position reports to the We Are NEXT Chief Executive Officer.

Join us in our mission to create a more perfect union and a democracy that truly puts the people first.

    About the Role

As Community Outreach Chief, you will:

    • Target, identify, manage, and coordinate relationships with organizations inside and outside of We Are NEXT. This includes, but is not limited to, facilitating formal and/or informal Letters of Understanding between We Are NEXT and external organizations.
    • In collaboration with other externally‑focused liaisons, convey the objectives of We Are NEXT, coordinate public‑facing actions, support the efforts of other organizations, and welcome offers of support or engagement with We Are NEXT.
    • Lead a team of Liaison volunteers.
    • Expand the reach of We Are NEXT initiatives through cooperation with other organizations and bring opportunities for collaboration or merger/acquisition to appropriate We Are NEXT leadership for consideration.
    • Identify and support targeted outreach efforts and inbound response efforts as requested by leadership and/or internal areas such as policy development and communications.
    • Participate as an active member of the Leadership Team.
    • Engage with Advisory Board members as needed to amplify and add support in respective areas of expertise and/or connectivity with appropriate local, regional, national, or international coalitions and organizations.
    • Represent We Are NEXT at external meetings or coalitions, in collaboration with other Leadership Team members and/or designees.
    • Identify needs/gaps in planning and execution that other organizations experience and outline lessons learned that can aid We Are NEXT.
    • When agreed to by the Leadership Team, may serve as a convener for coalitions in the future.

    Who We Are

We Are NEXT is a grassroots organization run entirely by volunteers like you. Our mission is to create a more perfect union—where Freedom, Opportunity, and Security are available to all; where all people are treated equally; where the three branches of government are co‑equal; where corruption is exposed; and where laws are established for the good of everyone.

We are developing actionable policies to create a flourishing, transparent, and accountable government that works for all people. We are identifying and empowering new state and federal leaders to step into public service roles with the integrity and vision to implement fair and effective policies. We are rewriting the rules of governance to ignite a movement for democracy anchored in justice and committed to future generations.

    Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for volunteers who are excited about progressive politics and dedicated to the idea that we can change what is happening in our country. This position requires at least 10 hours/week of volunteer activity.

    Ideal candidates will:

    • Be excellent communicators (written and verbal)
    • Have at least 1 year of experience in large‑scale community coalition‑building
    • Have experience coordinating with government agencies, businesses, and other organizations
    • Have experience with data analysis and report writing
    • Demonstrate strong complex problem‑solving abilities
    • Have a working knowledge of the current U.S. political system
    • Have access to technology that supports commonly used business applications (Excel, Google Workspace, Slack, etc.)

We value volunteers who bring diverse perspectives and experiences to our work, and we particularly encourage applications from individuals who represent communities often underrepresented in media and advocacy spaces.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 3–5 years of large‑scale community coalition‑building
    • Recognized leader in progressive political movements
    • Ability and interest in committing at least 20 hours/week, and sometimes more
