    Volunteer Grant Writer – Ocean State Disaster Team

    The Ocean State Disaster Team is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Volunteer Grant Writer to support our mission of assisting individuals and families impacted by disasters across Rhode Island and surrounding communities.

    As a Volunteer Grant Writer, you will play a key role in helping secure funding to sustain and expand our programs. Our organization provides essential resources such as emergency food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and support services to those affected by house fires, floods, and other crises.

    Responsibilities:

    • Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources
    • Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals and letters of inquiry
    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and leadership team to gather program data and funding needs
    • Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and reporting requirements
    • Assist with tracking submitted grants and outcomes

    Qualifications:

    • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
    • Ability to clearly present program goals and community impact
    • Experience with grant writing or nonprofit work (preferred but not required)
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
    • Passion for helping communities in need
