    Description

    Position Summary

The Volunteer Coordinator will help the National Aphasia Association (NAA) respond to and manage

volunteer interest from across the country. In this fully remote role, the coordinator will match volunteer

skills and interests to the needs of NAA and, when appropriate, connect them with other organizations in

the aphasia community. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, enjoys working with people, and

is passionate about making connections that strengthen support for those living with aphasia.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Respond to Volunteer Inquiries

o Monitor and respond to volunteer requests submitted via NAA’s website or email.

o Provide clear, friendly information about current volunteer needs.

    1. Match Volunteers to Opportunities

o For NAA-specific needs (primarily remote administrative or project-based tasks), match

    volunteers to available roles.

o For in-person or direct-contact requests, refer individuals to organizations in NAA’s

provider database or other suitable partners.

    1. Maintain a Volunteer Interest Flowchart

o Track volunteer skills, location, and preferences in a central database or spreadsheet.

o Use a decision tree to determine best-fit placements (NAA vs. partner organizations).

    1. Collaborate with NAA Staff

o Work with NAA’s Executive Director and program leads to identify emerging volunteer

    needs.

o Prepare for future opportunities (e.g., the Speaking Out in-person conference) by

building a list of volunteers interested in on-site event support.

    1. Outreach and Follow-Up

o Periodically check in with volunteers placed through NAA to ensure a positive

    experience.

o Maintain relationships with partner organizations to facilitate smooth referrals.

    Qualifications

    • Strong interpersonal and written communica3on skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple inquiries.
    • Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, and online forms.
    • Passion for the NAA mission and understanding of aphasia (training will be provided).

    Time Commitment

    • Approximately 3–5 hours per week, flexible scheduling.
    • Fully remote.

    Impact of the Role

By serving as the connection point between interested volunteers and meaningful opportunities, the

Volunteer Coordinator will help NAA extend its reach, support more people living with aphasia, and

strengthen the broader aphasia network nationwide.
