    Compassionate and Dedicated Board Members

Are you a visionary leader with a passion for making a meaningful impact? Machiah’s House is seeking dedicated and experienced individuals to join our Board of Directors as volunteer board members. Help us guide the future of our organization as we work to secure and provide safe transitional housing, life skills training, and access to essential resources for young women who have aged out of foster care.

    About Machiah’s House:

Machiah’s House is a 501c3 organization committed to empowering young women aging out of the foster care system. We desire to provide safe housing and a supportive community where they can learn life skills, access educational opportunities, and build a foundation for successful adulthood. We are dedicated to ensuring that these often-overlooked young women have the tools and support they need to thrive.

    Volunteer Role: Board Member

    Job Description:

    • Strategic Leadership: As a board member, you will provide leadership and guidance to the organization by helping shape its mission, vision, and long-term strategic goals. Your insights and experience will be critical in directing the growth and sustainability of Machiah’s House.
    • Fundraising & Donor Engagement: Actively participate in fundraising efforts to support the organization’s goals. This may include securing individual and corporate donations, hosting events, and identifying new sources of funding. Encourage donors and sponsors to support the mission of Machiah’s House by building and maintaining strong relationships.
    • Governance & Oversight: Ensure that Machiah’s House is adhering to its mission and operating within legal and ethical guidelines. Review and approve budgets, financial reports, and organizational policies to ensure the effective use of resources and transparency.
    • Community Outreach & Advocacy: Advocate for the organization by raising awareness about the needs of young women aging out of foster care. Serve as an ambassador for Machiah’s House by building connections within the community, engaging local leaders, and encouraging partnerships with like-minded organizations.
    • Program Development & Evaluation: Assist in the development, evaluation, and oversight of the programs offered at Machiah’s House. Work with the Executive Director and staff to ensure that programs are effective, impactful, and aligned with the mission of empowering young women.
    • Networking & Partnership Building: Leverage your professional and personal networks to connect Machiah’s House with potential partners, sponsors, and volunteers. Explore opportunities for collaboration with other nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders to strengthen our services.
    • Financial Stewardship: Ensure that the organization is financially healthy by monitoring financial statements, approving budgets, and helping to create sustainability plans. Your leadership will contribute to ensuring that Machiah’s House can continue to support its mission for years to come.
    • Mentorship & Support: Provide mentorship to the Executive Director and staff, offering guidance and support when needed. Help foster an environment of growth and learning, both for the staff and the young women we serve.
    • Policy Development: Collaborate with other board members and staff to develop and implement policies that promote organizational effectiveness, accountability, and efficiency. Ensure that the board operates in a manner that promotes transparency and inclusivity.
    • Attendance & Engagement: Attend and actively participate in board meetings, committee meetings, and organizational events. Your commitment to being engaged and present will help steer the organization’s success and create positive change.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Prior experience serving on a nonprofit board or leadership role
    • A passion for helping at-risk youth and understanding of the foster care system is a plus
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
    • Experience in fundraising, financial management, strategic planning, or legal compliance
    • Ability to network and build relationships within the community and with donors
    • Dedication to Machiah’s House’s mission and a commitment to furthering its goals
    • Willingness to be an active participant and advocate for the organization

    Impact:

As a board member for Machiah’s House, your leadership will directly influence the lives of young women aging out of foster care. You will help create opportunities for them to access housing, education, life skills training, and resources that will set them up for success. Your work on the board will not only shape the future of these women but also the future of the organization as a whole.
