    Description

Help protect Yellowstone's Wild bison: Spring migration volunteers needed!

Buffalo Field Campaign is seeking committed volunteers to stand with Yellowstone’s wild bison during their spring migration for the month of April 2026. As the only organization living and working in the field every day to protect the last wild herds, BFC relies on volunteers to track, observe, and document buffalo movements, assist them safely across Highways 191 and 287, and monitor capture and shipment to slaughter operations in Gardiner. Volunteers receive full training, equipment, and support from experienced staff, and all observations contribute to our long-term database documenting the bison and other wildlife. Our work is grounded in Indigenous leadership and we strive to amplify Indigenous voices in all aspects of buffalo protection.

Volunteers commit to a minimum of two weeks and are provided housing, meals, internet, and communal living space with basic amenities, including wood‑stove heating, hot showers, and laundry. Living quarters are shared, with limited privacy but a strong culture of respect and quiet hours. This is an opportunity to join a dedicated community on the front lines of buffalo conservation, supporting the herds in their native habitat and helping ensure their survival for generations to come.
