Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteers Needed – Honor, Connect, Serve

At Gentiva Hospice, we honor the service and sacrifices of our nation’s veterans. One of the most meaningful ways we do this is through our Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program—connecting veterans with fellow veterans at the end of life.

We are seeking veterans who feel called to continue serving by offering companionship, understanding, and presence to patients who have also served. There is something uniquely powerful about shared experiences, and your presence can bring comfort, dignity, and a sense of connection that only another veteran can provide.

What You’ll Do

As a veteran volunteer, you may:

• Visit veteran patients in their homes or care facilities
• Share stories, listen, and connect through common experiences
• Offer companionship and emotional support
• Participate in honoring ceremonies and recognition moments
• Provide a comforting presence for those who may feel alone

For many veteran patients, connecting with someone who understands their service can be deeply meaningful. Your time and presence can help ensure they feel seen, respected, and never alone.

Who We’re Looking For

• U.S. military veterans from any branch or era
• Compassionate, respectful, and dependable individuals
• Willingness to listen, connect, and be present
• Completion of training and background check required
• Must be 18 or older
