    Flexible virtual volunteer position requiring approximately 2–4 hours per week. Mentors will be paired with 1–3 students and will provide guidance through virtual meetings, feedback sessions, and ongoing support throughout the program.

    Description

    Role

    Mentor high school students interested in STEM research, scientific writing, and independent projects through Project MARS programs and fellowships. Outcomes are generally full research papers ready for publication, symposium/science fair-ready projects, or project proposals for national competitions.

    Responsibilities

    Meet virtually with students 1–2 times/week (or take as many mentees as you are comfortable with)

    Help students develop research ideas and projects

    Provide feedback on papers/posters/presentations

    Support scientific literacy and communication

    Asynchronous feedback to students between sessions over email

    Updates to the MARS team when needed
