    Description

United Hospice provides compassionate end-of-life care focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. We believe meaningful moments matter — and music is one of the most powerful ways to create them.

We are seeking a creative and compassionate volunteer to help lead a unique and engaging activity called Mystery Melody Bingo!

    What You'll Do

Instead of numbers, players’ bingo cards feature musical instruments. The volunteer musician will:

    • Play short sounds from various instruments
    • Begin by playing behind a curtain (mystery round!)
    • Pause and allow residents to identify the instrument
    • Then step out in front of residents to reveal and play again
    • Help create a fun, interactive, memory-stimulating experience

This activity encourages cognitive engagement, social interaction, laughter, and nostalgia.

    Duties Including in the Role

    • Engage warmly with residents
    • Complete light setup and cleanup
    • Coordinate with our Volunteer Coordinator to schedule sessions
    • Operate independently to conduct Bingo session and submit necessary paperwork

Many mini instruments will be provided, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own. Examples of instruments on the bingo card include:

    • Tambourine
    • Bells
    • Flute
    • Harmonica
    • Drum
    • Ukulele
    • Maraca
    • Or other portable instruments

(Experience with any instrument(s) is a plus, but not required!)

    Ideal Volunteer

    • Comfortable playing tunes in front of small groups
    • Patient, kind, and comfortable around seniors
    • Reliable and communicative
    • No professional training required — enthusiasm and heart matter most

    Why This Matters

Music often unlocks memories, emotions, and connection — even when words may be difficult. Your time and talent can create meaningful moments of joy and recognition for individuals receiving hospice care.

    Training & Support

We provide orientation and guidance on working with hospice residents. You will begin sessions with confidence and a clear understanding of the lasting impact you are making.
