WONheart is a mission-driven nonprofit committed to building a community that supports individuals (patients and families) affected by congenital heart disease (CHD). We are a high-impact organization with a growing team of dedicated professionals and board members working to create lasting change in our community and beyond.
Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic, systems-oriented leader to serve as Chair of Operations & Infrastructure on our Board of Directors. This individual will provide high-level board oversight of the organization's internal operations, ensuring that our systems, processes, and infrastructure are efficient, scalable, and mission-aligned.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide board-level guidance on organizational operations, technology, facilities, and administrative infrastructure
- Oversee the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures
- Collaborate with staff leadership to evaluate and strengthen internal systems and workflows
- Monitor operational risk and recommend strategies to ensure organizational resilience and sustainability
- Support HR, and compliance-related governance as needed
- Partner with the Executive Director and Finance Committee to align operational priorities with budgetary goals
Ideal Candidate
- Experience in operations management, organizational development, technology, or related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a systems-thinking mindset
- Experience overseeing or advising on HR, IT, compliance, or administrative functions
- Passion for [insert mission area] and commitment to the organization's core values
- Prior board or senior leadership experience strongly preferred
Term & Commitment
- 2-year term (renewable)
- Estimated 8–12 hours per month including board meetings, committee work, and strategic planning sessions
