    Description

Help Dogs and Cats Stay in Homes - Become a Behavior Support Volunteer with Best Friends!

Do you have animal behavior knowledge and training skills? A knack for problem-solving? Are you passionate about keeping pets in loving homes? Best Friends Animal Society is looking for compassionate, proactive volunteers to support adopters and foster caregivers navigating those transitional behavior challenges. As a Behavior Support Volunteer, you'll be a lifeline for new families - and a lifesaver for dogs and cats.

    What You'll Do:

    • Respond to support requests from adopters and foster caregivers facing behavior challenges.
    • Reach out with empathy and practical guidance via phone, email, or text message.
    • Share expert-approved tips and tools to improve behavior and boost confidence in caregivers.
    • Help identify problem behaviors early and address concerns before they become dealbreakers.
    • Document communications using simple online tools to aid in consistency and data collection.

    Why It Matters:

You'll help directly reduce the number of animals in shelters by keeping them happy, understood, and at home where they belong.

You're a Great Fit If You:

    • Have a good understanding of dog or cat behavior and modern science-based training
    • Are perhaps working toward a training certification
    • You've taken your animal through training classes or worked with a behavior professional to solve a challenge and enjoyed it
    • Can empathize with families facing behavior challenges
    • Have strong computer skills
    • Can commit to a flexible, virtual role for at least 2 hours/week
    • Want to make a real difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them

Together, we can help give every new family the chance to thrive together. Join our lifesaving mission - Visit the link to apply or email Amanda Farah (afarah@bestfriends.org) for more information.
