Food Rescue US - Chicagoland Seeking Communications Coordinator
Details
Description
Millions of people in the US face food insecurity ever day. An estimated 1 in 5 children experience hunger. At the same time, 30% of food in the food system is WASTED!
The need for our work has never been more vital.
Food Rescue US is dedicated to eliminating hunger and food waste (keeping food out of landfills and reducing greenhouse gasses). We engage volunteers and food donors through our proprietary web-based app to directly transfer nutritious excess food to social service agencies serving the food insecure. Food Rescue US is a national organization with 50+ sites across 20+ states and DC.
We are looking for a Communications Coordinator who can help raise awareness about our important mission to nourish our neighbors and protect the planet. This role is responsible for content creation and management for the site's social media platform, including national campaigns such as Hunger Action Month and Food Waste Prevention Week. This role is responsible for planning rescuer engagement initiatives and attending community events.
