    Description

Cambridge-based Furnishing Hope of Massachusetts provides furniture and essential home goods to families in the Greater Boston area transitioning out of homeless and domestic violence shelters. Our Home Goods Drive, one of our most important events of the year to help us stock up on new and gently used home good donations, is happening between April 6th and May 4th!

We 're looking for Captains to help us spread the word about our Home Goods Drive and collect donations from the community!

Description: Captains commit to reaching out to 3 or more friends, family members, neighbors, coworkers, or other community connections to share Furnishing Hope’s mission and request donations of gently-used or new items for our 2026 Home Goods Drive. (Click here for our most-needed items.) Captains serve as a drop-off point for those in their network who donate home goods items, before dropping off the donated items to our office in Harvard Square. (If you need a hand with the drop-off, let us know -- we have volunteers willing to help with pickups.)

Time Commitment: Flexible, anytime between April 6th-May 4th. (We can also work with your schedule if you want to start/end earlier or later.)

Interested? Fill out the sign up form linked here and someone from the Furnishing Hope team will reach out to you with more information!

If you have any questions or want to learn more about getting involved with Furnishing Hope, please email Erin Powers at outreachcoordinator@furnishinghopema.org. You can also see our FAQ here.

How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

Know people doing spring cleaning, downsizing, or moving? This is a great way to help them find a good new home for their kitchenware, bedding, bathroom, and other home goods and help local families starting out after homelessness at the same time!
