Qualified candidates for patient visits must be at least 18 years of age, pass a background check, fingerprinting, TB test, urine drug test, and complete orientation training.
Description
Make a difference in someone's life by providing compassionate presence and companionship to Gentiva Hospice patients and their families in the Rankin County area.
Our Patient Care Hospice volunteers help to provide support and comfort to our hospice patients and families, by visiting them during a time of need.
Gentiva Hospice volunteers may serve in a multitude of ways, including:
- Offering patient companionship at bedside
- Reading a book to patients
- Engaging in conversation with patients/family members
- Playing cards or games
- Singing or playing music
- Caregiver/family respite
- Light household work
- Running an errand
- Assisting with an arts/craft activity
Volunteers may also assist staff with special events such as memorial services and veteran pinning ceremonies for our hospice patients and families.
