Volunteer Spanish/English Interpreters Wanted for Growing Community Mediation Program

The Mediation and Conflict Resolution Program at the Center for Human Development has been helping citizens and businesses of Contra Costa County settle disputes amicably since 1984. We are seeking dedicated and trained interpreters to volunteer their time so that we can serve Spanish speaking community members. All of our mediations are held over Zoom, allowing all participants the flexibility to participate from the comfort of home. Our services are provided on a sliding-scale basis and we don’t turn away anyone due to lack of funds.

Qualification: Fluent in Spanish and English

We are looking for individuals who are/have:

• Articulate and speak both English and Spanish fluently
• Ability to remain neutral and non-judgmental
• Sensible, compassionate and empathetic
• Patience and like working with people
• Punctual and have good attendance
• Age 21 and up
• Time to commit to serving the community
• Availability during business hours

Time Commitment: At least 1 year (4 mediations/year)
